The exhibition is open to the public and free of charge.

GAPPS is proud to host the North American debut of the World Health Organization’s (WHO’s) Art for Health campaign. The unique art exhibition includes paintings by Italian artist Ms. Elisabetta Farina and photographs by Seattle photojournalist Mr. Paul Joseph Brown.
Painting in a style developed during the Pop Art movement, Ms. Farina’s portraits are of women as empowered and informed global citizens taking control of their health and well-being. The WHO-commissioned art is designed to deliver a call-to-action and encourages viewers to participate in a unified effort to improve the health of present and future generations of women around the globe.
The GAPPS’ commissioned portraits by Mr. Brown represent pregnant women and infants from the Pacific Northwest region. These diverse photos draw special attention to prematurity and stillbirth, and how these issues are inextricably linked to the health of women, newborns and children. These poor pregnancy outcomes result in more than 4 million deaths globally each year.
The exhibition coincides with the International Conference on Prematurity and Stillbirth, which takes place in Seattle in May 2009. GAPPS is co-convening this conference with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, March of Dimes, PATH, Save the Children, UNICEF and WHO.
